What’s Happening in Class:
Mrs. Sharman
Resource LA-
Students will get their first spelling list on Monday and we will have a test on Friday. We will learn about the author’s purpose for a story as well as why a setting influences a story. Students will have nightly grammar homework as well as Lexia or Reading Plus work on their iPad.
Resource Writing-
We will begin learning about how to write an effective narrative and share important moments in our lives.
Mrs. Brenner
Advanced Math-
We will be continuing our work on identifying factors and products through the use of Factor Puzzles. We are going to working on rate situations and rate tables. After we understand the use of a multiplier or divisor for the rate tables, we will begin to look at how this helps create a unit rate. We will be having our first quiz this week.
Co-taught Math-
Students will start in their flexible math groups on Monday. We will start lesson 1-1 on Tuesday and end with 1-4 on Friday. Students will have a nightly math worksheet to complete for homework.
Science-
We are going to continue our discussion on biotic and abiotic factors and how an ecosystem is organized. We are looking to begin discussing what biotic factors all living things need and how this helps them to best survive in their habitat.
Achieve 3000- We will finish our lexile level tests
Ms. Utech:
Language Arts-
Students will be introduced this week to some of the routines we will start with in LA. Students will be choosing from several books to take part in small monthly book clubs that will encourage independent reading. Small groups reading the same book will post discussion questions related to our focus skills and reply on Schoology by Friday. Word work will be common prefixes and will be due on Thursday. Our Storytown series focus skill this week is story elements, so we will start on identifying elements in the story Rope Burn from their text. As part of rotations we will also do some work on MobyMax stories, vocabulary, and grammar. There are many areas to cover in LA and shortened schedule for MAP testing Monday and Tuesday, so we will get through what we can.
Writing-
This week we will get a start with writer’s workshop. We will start with identifying Turning Point moments in our lives as well as important places to us to generate ideas for personal narratives.
Social Studies-
Our focus this week will be on map skills. We will go through important vocabulary and compare and contrast various types of maps. Students will be introduced to a packet that will review a variety of map skills. This standard will be covered but not assessed in Powerschool.
