Learning Adventures!

Language Arts (Sharman)
We will continue working on figurative language, and will focus on including similes and metahpors in our writing. Also, we will be continuing to read and summarize each chapter in our guided reading groups. Students should remember to keep getting their Lexia or Reading Plus done!
Writing (Sharman)
We will continue typing our research reports and will be sharing them later in the week!

Advanced Math
Students will begin to be introduced to integers and how integers are used in the real world.  Students will then be introduced the operations and how it changes when using integers.

Math 2/3
Students will be working more with volume and how to find volume if they only have parts of the information.   Students will also be looking at how to find the volume of a composite figure.  Students will have a test that is broken into parts: metric units, customary units, and area/perimeter/volume.

Science
Students will be having a test on circulatory system either Monday or Tuesday this week depending on which day they have Science.  Students will then begin to learn about the respiratory system, starting with the functions of the respiratory system then moving to the parts of the circulatory system.

Language Arts (Utech)
We will be starting a new historical fiction read-aloud called Shades of Gray which will support our Civil War unit in SS.  We will work on comprehension, vocabulary, and various reading strategies throughout the book in class together.  Students will have active reading and fluency homework, but no Moby stories due to all the testing.

Writing (Utech)
Students will be working to transfer flash drafts into their iPads to put in Book Creator.  As students work, they will revise and edit, adding leads and additional information to each section.  As time allows, we will begin adding timelines, maps, highlighting vocabulary, and adding illustrations to add to their research report.

Social Studies
Students are starting the Civil War unit.  This week we will pretest and begin learning the background and causes of the war.  Homework can be found on Schoology.
