April 4-8
Language Arts (Utech)
Our focus this week will continue to be on main idea and summarizing. We will to identify multiple main ideas for longer text passages and practice summarizing. Students will be assessed on the standard this week. Moby stories and active reading will be due Friday, and fluency will be due Monday.
Writing (Utech)
We will be taking the next weeks to review figurative language. We will work to integrate figurative language into our writing trying out various poetry and free verse samples such as color poems to have students show off their creative side!
Social Studies (Utech)
Students will be working on a comic strip called The United States is Born. They will be given notes in class for each comic to outline the sequence of events and important documents that set up our country’s government.
Language Arts (Sharman)
Students will continue reading their biographies and taking notes on their person’s early life, family life, and why they’re important. In addition, we will be working on the skill of main idea and summarizing. Students will also get their new spelling list on Monday.
Writing (Sharman)
Mrs. Treml will be in our class on Monday to talk about how to find good research materials for our biography reports. Students are encouraged to find at least three other additional websites, articles or books to help support their research report.
Math 2/3 (Brenner/Sharman)
This week we will be finishing up the second part of Chapter 7. This will include students learning about numerical patterns, graphing on a coordinate plane and creating a table. We will have a quiz on 7-4 through 7-6 on Friday. Test for this part of the chapter will be next week.
Advanced Math (Brenner)
During this week, students will be continuing their work on chapter 7 and finding percents of numbers as well as what is the unknown part or total. This is brand new to students and may prove to be troublesome for them if they do not use their notes. We will be having a test on Chapter 7 next week.
Science (Brenner)
Students will be starting their learning on the circulatory system - this week we will be discussing the parts of the heart, what makes the heart work and what do they want to learn about in the heart.
Achieve 3000 (Brenner)
Students will have a choice article to complete this week. During this choice article, students will be choosing their own article and completing their vocabulary words.
