Language Arts (Sharman)
This week we will focus on the skill of summarizing and will continue practicing main idea. Both of these concepts are especially important when it comes to writing our drafts for our research reports. Students will continue reading articles and books on their person of interest and should be taking notes on their notecards.

Writing (Sharman)
Students will work on summarizing their notes into categories in order to begin the process of writing their research papers!

Language Arts (Utech)
Students will continue to work on identifying the meaning of words and phrases in writing including figurative language such as metaphors and similes.  Students will be searching within their IR books to find and photograph examples of figurative language and literary devices.  In class, we will also be reading poetry and picture books to both identify figurative language and discuss the meaning behind the examples.  Our normal homework routes will continue.

Writing (Utech)
Students will be wrapping up some creative writing projects this week, and as time allows, beginning the final Lucy Caukins unit on Research Reports.

Social Studies (Utech)
We will be wrapping up our unit on American Documents this week and turning in comic notes.  Students will also be discussing our rights, responsibilities, and freedoms under the Bill of Rights.

Advanced Math (Brenner)
We will be starting our unit on statistics and probability.   First we are discussing the ways to show data and how to understand the data that we find in any situation.  By Wednesday, students will be able to get back their chapter 7 test and will be moving towards completing Chapter 8 at the end of next week.

Math (Brenner/Sharman) –
We are continuing to work on metric and customary measurement conversions in both volume and length.   Students will continue to show you what they know when they practice using their homework.

Science – (Brenner)
This week, students will be starting to identify where the blood goes in the body and the different parts that make the heart pump the blood both to body and back.
