Language Arts: (Utech)
This week, we will be wrapping up a unit on integrating information from several texts to write knowledgeably about a topic. This is the same thing we are doing to complete the research based argumentative essays in writing. We will practice with various texts to start the week in guided reading groups and partners, and end the week with an assessment. Routines for active reading, Moby lessons, and fluency will remain the same.
Writing:(Utech)
Students are working on argumentative essays this week on a topic of their choice to practice activism for a topic they care about. Students will continue to layer thinking along with evidence gathered to create a balanced essay. We will look at the rubric to set goals throughout our work time this week. We will be printing the final product during Friday’s flex time.
Language Arts: (Sharman)
This week, we will begin our book club books. Each student is in a small group and will be reading a chapter book that their group picked out. They will answer daily questions along with picking out two vocabulary words that they need to look up the definitions for. Students will also get a new spelling list this week and are expected to do their nightly studying along with Reading Plus or Lexia.
Writing: (Sharman)
We will finish up our donation letters for the 2Myles4Autism walk/run. Then we will do an activity about adjectives and work on including descriptive details in our writing. Our next project will be a persuasive writing about Oreos!
Social Studies:
Students wrapped up the events leading to the American Revolution. The packet they completed describing each event, along with an illustration, is their assessment for that standard. We will now be learning about the American Revolution. Specifically, students will be learning the advantages and disadvantages of each army, and how the Americans won the war in the end. There will be a short assessment on this before spring break.
Advanced Math - (Brenner)
Students will take their last quiz of Chapter 6 - Volume. We will then review on Tuesday and take our test on Chapter 6 on Wednesday. During the last part of the week, we will be beginning chapter 7 by comparing ratios and graphs and then reviewing unit rates.
Students are still expected to complete their 60 minutes of Khan Academy.
Math 2/3 - (Brenner/Sharman)
Students will take their last quiz of Chapter 5 - Dividing Decimals. We will then review on Tuesday and take our test on Chapter 5 on Wednesday.
