NO SCHOOL -  SPRING BREAK

Language Arts (Utech)
This week students will be reviewing the standard of main idea.  We will use practice cards to identify main idea in short text.  Much of this will simply be review as we have been practicing this all throughout the year in Achieve3000, argumentative writing, and our last standard of integrating text.  We are starting a new read aloud called Tolliver’s Secret covering more on the American Revolution.  Normal routines will continue with Moby and active reading, but no fluency this week.  In addition, if students score below a 50% on their Moby lesson, they will be expected to complete a new lesson.  This is to ensure students are taking their time to do their best on the lessons, not just click to be done.

Writing (Utech)
Students will be celebrating their Bend III writing piece this week and sharing their final essays with the class.  We will also be completing the on-demand final assessment of the research-based argumentative essay.  Students are allowed to bring in any research they have, then they have 45 minutes to complete an essay practicing what they know about argumentative writing.

Social Studies (Utech)

Students will be learning more about how the Americans won the American Revolution.  They will also be taking a short quiz on the advantages and disadvantages of each army.

Math (Sharman/Brenner)
We will begin chapter 7 on the order of operations and simplifying expressions. Students will have a quiz at the end of the week on the first three lessons of the unit.

Language Arts (Sharman)
We will finish our book club books on Wednesday and we will work on a project Thursday and Friday. This week our focus skill is identifying the main idea and supporting it with details from the text. Students will also be required to have their 10 units of Lexia or Reading Plus completed by Friday. They will also have spelling words this week.

Writing (Sharman)
Students will continue working on the skill of opinion writing. We will use the "OREO" method to write our paragraphs (opinion, reason, explanation, opinion). To kick off St. Patrick's day week, students are required to write 25 complete sentences, all starting with the word "Green" by Friday!

Advanced Math (Brenner)
This week we will   be continuing to work on ratios, unit rates and percents.

Science
In Science, students will be completing their test on the digestive system.

Achieve 3000
Students this week will have the choice once again to choose their own article.  We will continue to develop our prediction skills to help us answer our comprehension questions.
