Learning Adventures!
Advanced Math-
This week we will be working on inequalities and comparing two quantities.
Science-
In Science, students will be exploring the digestive system through interactive lab stations.
Achieve 3000-
Students this week will have the choice once again to choose their own article. We continue to develop our cause and effect skills as we answer questions based on our articles.
Math 2/3-
Students will be working on division this week with the emphasis on dividing by one digit numbers.
Resource Language Arts-
Students will be reading a variety of classic poems and also writing acrostic, concrete, list, and narrative poems. In addition, they will be practicing their spelling words for the test on Friday. Please ask your son/daughter about keeping up with their Reading Plus/Lexia program. They should have 60 minutes completed every Friday.
Resource Writing-
Students will have the opportunity to share the poems they have written at a Poetry Party on Friday afternoon. Also, I just wanted to say, "Happy Valentine's Day!"
Language Arts-
We will be continuing our routine this week. Moby stories lesson will be due Friday and fluency Lesson 6 due Monday. Students finished book club books last week, so they will be in charge of reading from their IR book 20 minutes per day and completing active reading strategies to turn in on Friday. I am hoping to get as far as possible in the Fighting Ground this week. We will also be doing mid-year decoding and fluency check-ins this week. In addition, we will begin work on integrating information from several non-fiction texts to learn about a topic.
Social Studies-
Students will continue learning about the 6 events that led to the American Revolution. As we learn about each new event or concept, students will write a summary and create a drawing to demonstrate their understanding. This packet will be their assessment for the unit.
Writing-
This week, students will be learning how to analyze evidence and explain their thinking in their writing to add more voice. They will be completing a draft of their writing so far and going through a grading sheet to practice self-assessment. We will also start a packet on basic comma usage as a review.
