NO SCHOOL

Learning Adventures:

Resource Language Arts-
Students will be practicing their spelling words for Thursday, since there is no school on Friday.  On Thursday, our class will also be going to the library to return and check out books.  This week the students will also be learning about the five elements of a mystery story: characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution.

Resource Writing-

After learning about the mystery elements and reading a mystery, students will have the chance to write their own.  The goal is to keep their story running smoothly and allowing the clues to the solution to be revealed in a clear way that the reader can follow.

Advanced Math-
This week we will  be working on inequalities, how to graph them and what they mean.

Science-
In Science, students will be continuing to exploring the digestive system through understanding mechanical and chemical digestion.

Achieve 3000-
Students this week will have the choice once again to choose their own article.  We continue to develop our compare and contrast skills.

Math 2/3-
Students will be working on division this week with the emphasis on dividing by two digit divisors.

Language Arts-
This week will be a continuation of last week’s standards. Moby stories lesson will be due Thursday and fluency Lesson 7 due Monday.  Students will be in charge of reading from their IR book 20 minutes per day and completing active reading strategies to turn in on Thursday as well.  I am hoping to finish the Fighting Ground this week.  We completed mid-year decoding last week, so this week will be fluency check-ins.  In addition, we will begin work on integrating information from several non-fiction texts to learn about a topic.

Social Studies-
Students will continue learning about the 6 events that led to the American Revolution. As we learn about each new event or concept, students will write a summary and create a drawing to demonstrate their understanding.  This packet will be their assessment for the unit.  This week we will cover taxation without representation.

Writing-

This week, students will be completing a draft of their chocolate milk argumentative writing so far and going through a grading sheet to practice self-assessment.  We will also practice implementing the comma rules we reviewed last week to applying it to real sentences students might write.
