Learning Adventures...
Language Arts-
Our focus this week will be on the standard of integrating information from several non-fiction texts to learn about a topic. This also ties in well with our writing unit on research based argumentative essays. A Moby stories lesson will be due Friday and fluency Lesson 8 due Monday. Students will be in charge of reading from their IR book 20 minutes per day and completing 10 active reading strategies to turn in on Friday as well.
Advanced Math -
Students will be completing their Chapter 5 Expressions and Equations. They will have their test on sections 10-17, Thursday, February 25th. Please encourage your child to spend some time reviewing their worksheets and study guides. We will then begin our exploration into Chapter 6 Volume of Regular Prisms.
Math 2/3 -
Students will continue to develop their understanding of long division with 1 or 2 digit divisors. Once students have shown their understanding of this concept, we will move into dividing decimals by whole numbers. Students will also have a quiz on the whole number division during this week.

Social Studies-
Students will continue learning about the events that led to the American Revolution. This week we will cover the Boston Tea Party using text materials as well as videos to help make the material come to life. I will introduce students to an animated historical fiction series called Liberty’s Kids that helps cover major events before and during the American Revolution.
Science -
Students will be completing an inquiry lab that will help them to discover what happens in every part of the digestive system. Students will be paying close attention to what each organ's function is and how it helps to contribute to the digestive system as a whole.

Writing-
Students will be diving even deeper into argumentative essays on chocolate milk this week. Session 8 will focus students on the systems that work best for each individual to collect their knowledge and research, setting themselves up for even higher level writing. Session 9 will ask students to reread over research texts to think and dig more deeply into the information being presented.
Achieve 3000 -
Students will have a choice article to complete on Monday or Tuesday and will be completing the article at their new level set. We will continue to work on identifying key parts of the article and how to use the article to aid in finding answers to our questions.

Resource Language Arts-
Students will be reading and performing the Readers' Theatre Selection titled CROSS COUNTRY VACATION. In the story, a family travels across the country and makes a video diary of their trip. There will also be comprehension, vocabulary, and spelling tests throughout the week.
Resource Writing-
Students will be doing a variety of writing such as: a trip itinerary, packing list, and even a postcard from a place they would like to travel to. They will also be making a collage of sights they would like to see on a vacation and things they would like to do. They will share it with the class.
This is my last week here at Lineville for Mrs. Sharman. I have enjoyed working with the students and staff here. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your child. It has been a pleasure to help them grow as a reader and writer. -Mrs.Thieme
