Students in Language Arts have made goals of how many books they would like to read before the end of the school year. Students are encouraged to find books that are a "good fit" for them. A good fit book is a book that they should be able to read alone without help and are able to comprehend. By using the five finger rule, which is to read a page and have less than five decoding mistakes per page allows a students to find a book that they will most likely finish.
Please set aside some time every night - 10-20 minutes to have your child either read to themselves or read to you. This allows you to help discuss and make a connection with your child about the book.
