Lessons:

Resource LA:
Students will be practicing their fluency and expression by reading The Hallo-Wiener by Dave Pilkey. Students picked out their parts on Friday and are expected to be practicing their parts every night for homework. We will perform our readers theater on Wednesday to end our week.

Resource Writing:
Students will be finishing up their spooky stories on Monday and their final drafts are due Wednesday! A "zombie" visited our class on Friday to remind us of things we should never do when writing as fifth graders!

Second Hour Math:
We will finish lessons 2-4 and 2-5 this week on decimals! Students are expected to have thirty minutes of Moby Math done by Wednesday of this week. Subtraction factmaster is due November 8th!

Advanced Math:
This week we will be finishing up chapter 2 by figuring out how to use a coordinate grid to create regular figures and begin studying for our assessment.  Students will only be expected to complete 30 minutes of Khan Academy during this week.

Achieve 3000:
This week we are only going to be doing one article - this article is A Last Look at Amelia Earhardt - in this lesson we are looking at building vocabulary in this lesson.

Science:
This week we will be finishing up chapter 1 of our Ecology unit.  We will begin to figure out how to study for a test and how to use the notes to help us.

Writing:
Students will work on adding a flashback or flashforward to bring out the internal story and add power to their narratives this week.

Social Studies:
Students will be introduced to the the major impacts exploration had on native populations.  We put them into 8 categories.  Students will then use that background knowledge as we learn next week about various explorers to identify both the motivation of the explorer and how his exploration impacted the native population.

Language Arts:

Students will be doing more practice identifying theme within stories.  Book clubs will complete their second week of reading, but there will be no post due to the shortened week.  Completion of a new MobyMax Stories lesson will be due by Friday.

Teamwork to determine theme!
